and grilled on the hill. how the superintendent of berkeley unified responded to lawmakers into claims of antisemitism on campus. and new details about the electric car involved in a crash that killed a family of 4 in pleasanton. >> station. he's calling for news 2. >> thank you for joining us here on kron. 4 news at 2. i'm justine waltman will start in the south bay where a number of students at a san jose middle school got sick after they smelled some sort of a strange odor at school today. it did trigger a hazmat response by the san jose fire department. this all happened at sunrise middle school on east julian street, just west of highway 101, kron 4 s charles clifford joins us now live from that middle school with details. what happened? charles? >> well, good afternoon. you know, the good news here, everyone is going to be okay. no one seriously hurt in the

fire department is now saying that this may have been a case of a science experiment gone wrong. department says that around 9 wednesday morning they started receiving calls about students here at sunrise middle school smelling an odor and feeling sick. >> full first alarm response was dispatched to the school. when we got here, we found that there was 8 students that had various complaints of dizziness, nausea, general, malaise, shortness of breath and the students had been pulled from the area where they originally smell the smell and they are in a safe area for us to assess. 2 students were transported to the hospital for evaluation, mostly out of an abundance of caution. the remaining 6 students are doing well know. faculty reported feeling ill. the fire department's hazardous materials team searched the school and they now believe that an experiment in a science room >> may have created elevated levels of carbon dioxide. they say that the source of the co 2 was removed and that the levels have returned to normal. no other contaminants were found in the air. the

fire department says they did a wide search to find the cause. there's very common things that we try to rule out such as cleaning products. this school is clean on regular intervals with, you know, standard products like ammonia, etc. >> and they also scheduled to potentially an experiment with vinegar and baking soda for one of those volcano we're trying to isolate and rule out some of the most obvious things. first by late morning classes have resumed here at sunrise middle school, although parents who want to take their kids home for the day, we're allowed to do so. all right, back live now, school has let out for the day. also, all this happened across the street from san jose high school. but nobody on that campus reported any problems. >> but for now and the san jose charles clifford kron, 4 news. >> charles, thank now to another big story we're following is that a local school district is facing criticism. harsh criticism on capitol hill today. that's the superintendent of the berkeley unified school district to sir in the hot seat facing some questions concerning allegations of jewish students

being harassed. kron four's terisa stasko joins us now live from the newsroom with the latest here. how did we get to this point to just ate a very complicated situation. no doubt. berkeley unified school district's superintendent ford mortal testifying that anti-semitism is not tolerated and any case will be handled to teach, cracked and redirect students. he also acknowledged the district is facing multiple complaints alleging severe and persistent anti-semitism, including a federal civil rights investigation by the u.s. department of education. several parents of detailed graphic cases of alleged discrimination against jewish students on various berkeley public school campuses. and one parent saying that child was threatened with violence for being jewish. this is some of the exchange between berkeley superintendent and the republican led house committee. dan, how this works. we have. >> teachers that are teaching hate to our kids and showing it students being a feeling fearful for this. do they are

the founder, this transfer to another school appears that just moving to another place. in this case here. yeah, i guess that's the question i have what house is being resolved. >> if we have a concern or complaint about anti-semitism or any form of hate, we take it very seriously. we investigate and we take action pending the outcome of that investigate. all right. so i guess the action is not fine is just moving some place. i think it would. action is very subjective. obviously. >> now the berkeley unified board of directors issuing a statement in support of the superintendent. it reads in part, we have witness superintendent for mortal demonstrate both compassion and strong leadership. she continues to meet with parents, students, educators and community groups representing all perspectives and has personally attended many community gatherings to share in the grief and hurt that defines the time. she has consistently and clearly articulated procedures for affected students. parents and

educators to follow. coming up on kron, 4 news at 3 o'clock. we're going to have a lot more on the hearing and the superintendent in the hot seat. back to theresa. thank you so much. and grade school administrators from other school districts also testified about how they're handling the rise anti-semitism in their schools. >> the head of 2 other school districts also rejected some of the lawmakers claims that they have allowed the hate to go unchecked. the educators say they have had to fire employees and suspend students because of the uptick in hate crimes. but most of them agreed. there's only one way to cure hatred on school campuses. >> we cannot simply disappoint out way out of this problem. the true antidote to ignorance and bias is to teach. we're doing a disservice to students if we are not teaching them about the backgrounds and perspectives of all people. >> today's hearing part of a series of hearings from this committee. the first in december led to the resignations of the presidents

of harvard and the university of pennsylvania. and now to the latest on the war in the middle east. the israeli military says it has reopened a major crossing into gaza for the entry of humanitarian aid. the a crossing between gaza and israel was closed over the weekend after hamas rocket attack killed 4 israeli soldiers nearby. despite the reopening, the un says no humanitarian aid has entered in just yet. and today the defense secretary confirmed the u.s. is withholding a military shipment to israel. this move is coming as israel's preparing for a military invasion of rafah. despite u.s. warnings, our dc's raquel martin has the story. >> the biden administration is pausing a weapons transfer to israel. we are currently reviewing some near security assistance shipments at a senate hearing us defense secretary lloyd austin confirmed the u.s. put a hold on a bomb shipment last week. the reason u.s. concerns the bombs could be used israel invasion of rafah. a gaza city

holding more than a million palestinian i think we should do everything possible >> to ensure that we're we're protecting for civilians. republicans are slamming the decision. this is up saying it is absurd. south carolina senator lindsey graham says pausing aid. >> only put a target on israel's back. if we stop weapons necessary to destroy the enemies of the state of israel at a time of great peril. we will pay a price. and senate republican leader mitch mcconnell accused the president of fighting with hamas sympathizers and the campus communists who decided to wrap themselves in the floods. >> secretary austin says u.s. support for israel remains ironclad. he told senators the u.s. will continue to ensure israel can defend itself. senate majority leader chuck schumer who has been critical of israel's leadership during the war, says he trusts the white house strategy. have

faith in what the biden administration is doing. israel's government calls the decision disappointing but says its operation in rafah is critical to defeating hamas in washington. raquel martin. >> new no 2 o'clock. the electric car that the family of 4 was riding in when they died in a fiery crash in p% pleasanton last month. we've learned had a history of steering issues. this is according to the u.s. department of transportation. and according to a complaint filed by the national highway traffic safety administration. the 2023 vinfast the f 8 that the family was driving had an issue in which the steering wheel automatically maneuver to the right. the complaint went on to express concerns that the steering failure took place at the time of that deadly crash. according to the pleasanton police department, the driver lost control of the vehicle, then collided with the pole. >> and a large oak tree on foothill road. the vehicle then caught on fire. the crash remains under investigation.

google will be leaving one market plaza in san francisco when its lease expires. a google spokesperson confirmed this with kron 4 saying that the company will move out of one markets peer tower. >> later this year but will continue to occupy a one markets landmark building employees who are based one markeus, peer tower will be moved to other nearby san francisco buildings. and in a statement, google says we're focused on investing in real estate efficiently to meet the current and future needs of our hybrid workforce. we remain committed to our long-term presence in san francisco. happening tomorrow, president biden will be visiting the bay area for 2 days. he is expected to fly into san francisco tomorrow before attending to campaign receptions on friday. the president last in san francisco in february when he went to 2 events in support of his reelection campaign. taking a live look outside wide view here from our sutro tower camera. so we can see what's happened in looking out towards the north bay, little breezy out there today, but

plenty of sun meteorologist kyla grogan back with us without the details. hey there. yeah. so definitely the breeze. you can see that right there. and we've got a blue skies as we take a live look at coit hour and temperatures have been lovely and warm and warmer than yesterday. and boy, that's just the beginning of it. everybody. a warm-up this week. >> as we head through the rest of our week. but right now you can see santa rosa's it 80 degrees. san jose is at 79. i will tell you half moon bay actually clocked in the low 70's at about 11:00am this morning. they pull back since then with more of that on shore flow affecting them. but, you know, you can see these temperatures are well above average. if we compare them to yesterday. >> we're all running warmer than we were 24 hours ago. and you know, napa, oakland, hayward, all 10 degrees. plus warmer than we were this time yesterday. it's all about high pressure. part 2 right here off the coast. but notice we've got low pressure inland and that creates a bit of a wind gradient, which means that we are starting to feel the effects of that, seeing some of that northerly wind, north northeasterly wind that's starting to roll through the bay area. and you probably notice that if you walk out the door because

we're getting rather gusty out there. so these are the sustained winds you can see fairfield about 23 miles per hour. it's 17 in napa and half moon bay. but really bay area wide. we're we're feeling so we are under a wind advisory. but just for parts of the day, it's the interior mountains in the north bay. and then you can see along the delta here in parts of solano and yolo county. so that does mean places like just to the east of santa rosa. also calistoga saint alina sonoma, if you're in vallejo, if you're in benicia, if you're in fairfield, you're under this until 08:00am on thursday, we could see gusts up to about 45 miles per hour. i'll be back in a little bit. we'll talk more about what comes next in our extended right? >> all right. well, are you ready to celebrate san francisco announcing a api heritage month events that we can all get excited about. and oakland officials getting set to make a final decision on whether or not to change the name of the oakland airport. how the city of san francisco is reacting. but first, a couple of affordable housing

(♪♪) affordable housing communities being built on the southeast side of san francisco. right near visitation valley are slowly starting to take shape. construction started last spring. this is supposed to be done by early next year as kron four's tiffany justice reports the mayor and community leaders took some time today. >> to celebrate the project's progress. >> this 50 acre site in sunny deol called the sunnydale. the lascaux master plan is moving forward. local and community

leaders speaking wednesday about the progress so far, 222 affordable units have been completed with 75% of them designated as public housing replacement units for sunny deol residents state senator scott wiener says is much needed for the south eastern neighborhoods of the city >> south asian neighbors have been just so neglected for so many years. you know what it needs and i think it is. and we're seeing much more focus on the needs of this community. it is an essential part of san francisco, the fabric of our city. >> several groups are working on this revitalization effort, including mercy housing in the san francisco housing authority, transforming existing public housing into a mixed income neighborhood. there will be 2 apartment money and nia amani will be located on the southwestern corner of sonido avenue and street. it will have 80 new apartments for low-income families, earning 30 to 40% of

the area. median income. the ground floor will be used for commercial use for groceries in a residence hall and located across the street will be nia. it will offer 90 apartments for families earning 30 to 60% of the am. i nia is set to be completed in 2025. we have finally get into a better place. >> only the 222 units that have already been completed. but the 170 units topping off today. >> to make sure there is a real one for one replacement to support the existing community. a sunny day out. >> this transformation of the visit toss the on valley neighborhood will also include a hub, a new community center for residents, eu slated to open in august of this year. the new space will house an early child education center and a boys and girls club house. it's a community. >> where young people would actually have a place to go. often times people get frustrated with the youth and they talk about the fact that

typically people don't think young people should weaker. eliza space. well, young people would actually have opportunity to thrive, participate in activities, participating programs right in their very own community reporting. tiffany justice kron, 4 news. >> a new report is finding that billions of dollars is missing and paying for affordable housing projects that are already under way. this is according to >> the research from enterprise community partners in the bay area, housing authorities. now the findings are showing that more than 400 affordable housing developments are in the works in all 9 bay area counties and they should provide nearly 41,000 affordable homes. but that accounts for only 23% of the state's affordable housing criteria and the bay area would still need to come up with 180,000 more homes by 2031, according to this

report, almost 10 billion dollars of public money is needed to move forward on the homes that are already underway. there will be a 20 billion-dollar regional bond on the ballot this fall. housing officials say this will help unlock some of the projects that are necessary to meet the affordable housing goals. happening tomorrow, open officials are going to make a final decision on whether to change the name of oakland international airport. this proposal to call oakland airport san francisco bay international airport has stirred up some controversy, prompting the city of san francisco to file a lawsuit last month. san francisco officials have said travelers bound for sfo may unintentionally flight to oakland if the airport's name starts with san francisco. now, oakland officials say the name change will help generate more traffic for the airport by making travelers aware of its bay area location. the port of oakland is set to vote on a final approval of this new name tomorrow. course, we'll let you know what happens in the east by the

city of richmond passed a resolution for the state to jump start a non-profit electric company instead of using pg and e the vote is really symbolic. but the vice mayor says for years the city has dealt with power outages and other problems, including the failure of pg need to supply energy to city parks. in a statement pg e says it does not support the idea of a statewide public utility because they say it would not benefit that customers, taxpayers, local communities or california's economy. san francisco's china preparing to host a number of events to celebrate asian american and pacific islander heritage month event. organizers announcing the details for this api festival and performances earlier today. they were at on the square of this year's theme for the celebrations is moving forward together. many events are paying tribute to the year of the dragon, including the lion me competition. it's taking place this saturday. the grand master of the events as this years competition is expanding

>> yeah. the work is going to stick around everybody for a little bit. but we do have the windy conditions. you can see it just the interior portion of the north bay. so basically talking up in the hills and mountains, right when you get up to this area and then also you can see calistoga saint helena, sonoma. and then if you get down into the delta allay fairfield, the nation until 08:00am tomorrow, expect very gusty conditions. and that's why the wind advisory has been called even if you're not in that area, you're still going to feel some of this breeze want to take you up to elevation a spot like atlas peak. we're seeing that northerly flow about 31 miles per hour. i did right now. it's just dropped at apollo. got up to 61 miles per gusts. now they're more in the upper 30's or about 32 in lastrapes the direction of many of them north northeasterly mean they're coming from that direction. and you see that kind of coming down to the service as well. fairfield 23 miles per hour out of the you can see we're at 16 in santa rosa. that's kind of a northeasterly flow. livermore of that northerly breeze as well. so that has everything to do with high and low pressure because we've got

circulation around high pressure, clockwise, counter clockwise and low pressure. those to kind of get together and they squeeze together, creates a wind gray and that's when we get offshore. wind obviously look out for this. we're in the fall and we're in fire season. so today just a heads up to be careful about that and also secure anything they think ago flying because between now and tomorrow morning, this is going continue. so the trash cans could definitely end up in your neighbor's yard. if you're not careful. so just to show you future wind gusts as we get into tonight, you can see it's very strong there in the north and the east days and that continues into this evening. and then as i mentioned tomorrow morning, and then by the time we get to tomorrow afternoon, we'll start to catch a break. but this is 10:00am and you see it's still pretty gusty. they're not until we get later into the day. things get a bit better. obviously we've got the blue skies out there. so that's kind of a bonus. we've got a warm-up on the way, everybody not just today, but check out what happens over the next couple of days. in fact, above average, every day in your seven-day forecast for inland spots, at least back to you. still ahead, mcdonald's

autonomous. prosecutors are trying to determine if the company submitted securities or wire fraud in making those claims. tesla's not commenting on this investigation. this auto pilot feature has been linked to hundreds of crashes. starting next month. people in emeryville will no longer be able to use gas-powered leaf blowers. the city is banning this device because of a and noise pollution which may cause some negative health effects. penalties will be given. the city is recommending to switch over to an electric leaf blower berkeley, oakland and other bay area. cities have also done the same thing with these type of bans and this one starts july 1st. and now less than 3 weeks before the indy 500 a cheating scandal is rocking the indy car. circuit officials found 3 cars from the penske team had used illegal software system during the long beach grand prix. it gave that those cars some extra horsepower, a little bit of a boost on starts and restarts and that's against the rules. as a result, penske

including a teenage girl are in the hospital after being struck by a hit and run driver in san francisco. police chase that driver from the tenderloin. >> throughout north beach before it came to an end right outside of our kron. 4 studios along the embarcadero kron four's. dan kerman has the story. >> it's here along the embarcadero at green street where san francisco police took the hit and run suspect into custody. this after at least the 3rd incident of the day when the white mustang he was driving slammed into this parked car. no one was injured at this location, but that's not the case at the other locations. you're chase >> and i'm like police say. it all began just before 08:00am the suspect's vehicle hit a pedestrian near jones and market tire tracks are clearly visible. the victim, an urban alchemy employee, was taken to a local hospital and will survive. police say a few

blocks away. officers spotted the suspect's vehicle driving recklessly when the suspect failed. the yield when officers initiated a traffic stop. police say a vehicle pursuit began about 9.30. the chase reached francisco middle school. it's their police say the suspects vehicle hit a 14 year-old girl who was crossing francisco street from the main campus to the auxiliary campus so that there was crossing the street from building to building and was in the crosswalk. >> and the guy was running out of, you know, running. because the police often. so put the here. have the good he can run supervisor. aaron peskin who represents that neighborhood says the girl was taken to san francisco general hospital with a fractured shoulder and ankle. but will survive. it's at that point. police say they shut down the chase due to safety concerns. >> minutes later, officers spotted the suspect's vehicle stopped in embarcadero in green. it's their they took the suspect into custody.

francisco police are allowed to conduct vehicle pursuits under certain circumstances where these chase protocols followed in this case. supervisor peskin says both and the police are evaluating that right now. >> in san francisco, dan kerman kron, 4 news. >> employees at an oakland mcdonald's now on strike after the health department forced it to close down because they found rats there. according to the alameda county's health report, a dead rat was seen in a trap near the soda syrup. boxes and rat droppings were found along a wall. workers say they were told to clean up the mess but were not given the necessary training or tools to do so. >> we just know that 6 cleaning and we had a proficient on to clean.

>> bring in professionals to deal with this rat problem. they say they will resume working once their demands are met. mcdonald's says during the shutdown, people who are scheduled to work will be paid. but the workers that we spoke with said that's news to them. a person involved in a car crash over the weekend was found shot inside of their car. police are saying on sunday night they responded to a solo crash on bennett drive. this is in san leandro. they say they found the driver inside with a gunshot wound. the driver pronounced dead at the scene. investigators think that the shooting happened in the same area just before the crash. anyone with information should call police. the city of oakland is going to have to pay more than 2.5 million dollars to an employee after jury decided that they failed to protect her from harassment. at a senior center. so in this lawsuit, the victim, patricia toscano says that she reported supervisor had sexually harassed her and she did that

report to the city's human services department. this was in 2016, but attorneys representing her say nothing was done about the situation. and alameda county jury sided with her and now the city is going to have to pay or 2.6 million dollars now go to the peninsula where new affordable housing is coming for farmworkers in half moon baya the san mateo county board of supervisors approved millions of dollars for these new homes. kron four's. michael thomas has the story. >> approval would allow up to 50 new manufactured homes to be built in this area that you see to my left and specifically would help out those farm workers who are affected by last year's mass shooting. take a look. these are renderings of the new community put out by the san mateo county board of supervisors which approved close to 6 million dollars this week to build affordable housing for coastal farm workers. in total, the project will provide. 47 new manufactured homes built on 5 acres of city-owned land. the areas about a half mile away from downtown half moon bay and sits at the end of a cul-de-sac where million dollar town homes are located.

carl bolton who lives in one says he likes the idea as long as it's done correctly. i have watched a project goal. >> entire time and i think we need affordable housing for folks we need. we need we need this. >> while the approval came just this week, the idea stems from a county commission report that was done almost a decade ago back in 2016, which found the need to improve the quality availability and affordability of housing for farmworkers in the area and last year's mass shooting confirmed that report when officials discovered just how bad living conditions mister bolton says he's okay with the idea but not everyone is fully on board. i mean, >> there's some controversy among our homes association in terms of of the valuing our properties of things. but i weldon development here this clean and a affective, it's not going to affect us currently, the project is still in the permit process, but officials say if all goes well, 28 of the 47 units will focus on ownership for farm

workers using the california joe certain junior farmworker housing grant program. >> however, no eta has been given quite yet. multiple neighbors in the area tell me they're ok with this project and the idea of it as long as it's done correctly. however, no eta when construction would begin has been give it. >> that's very latest reporting in half moon bay, michael thomas kron. 4 >> all right. happening right now, crews are working to repair a water main break in richmond. this is right near the intersection of south 47th street and carlson boulevard. this water main break happened about 5 o'clock this morning and east bay mud says it is expecting it will take about 12 hours to repair all the damage there. and you can see all those gallons of water that rushed out onto the street to make that look a little bit more like a river. looks like a rain that right? at least 21 homes. currently do not have water service. investigators are still trying to figure out how and why this happened. in the north bay. sandra fell. police say they

arrested a man for causing a small vegetation fire last night. investigators say the man responsible created the fire with homemade fireworks. and this was on crest away right near terra linda neighborhood. residents in the area reported hearing an explosion before fire started right behind their apartment complex. a 54 year-old nevada man was later arrested. the fireworks were seized by the uc berkeley bomb squad. all the fireworks. all of them all the fireworks in general are prohibited in martin county. all right. we'll talk about our forecast with a live look outside at what a nice day it is. this is what we like to the little fact check what we've got. that guy's got short a t-shirt. >> nice and warm up their here with details. yeah, absolutely is. we're going to talk temperatures in this one, everybody because which is now in the 60's. >> actually made it up to the low 70's about 11:00am kind of interesting. we have that offshore flow rolling and that is still happening. but you can see the temperatures of pull back now to about 61 degrees. they get a little bit

of an onshore flow to it. battles it out. 79 in san jose fremont hayward. look at these numbers, everybody. 78 in concord, pittsburgh, napa fairfield. we've got 80 degrees up in santa rosa petaluma and cloverdale 81 in nevado. so obviously we're off to the races with these temperatures and you can kind of see that ridge of high pressure here. you see all the blue sky, just a little bit of indication that this is kind of shooting any weather to the north of us and allowing us to warm up when we get high pressure that is in control. and that's exactly what we're seeing. so today, the -% beginning of a warm-up, you can see tomorrow and friday. that's when things peak. but saturday is no slouch either. as we start to see a more of those potential upper 80's for inland spots, 70's around the bay and 60's mid-sixties as we head inland. so then i take take a look at ahead to the next week, right? this is kind of the long-term prediction. and you can see for majority of the country pretty warm if we zoom in here to the bay area, looks like it's going to be really warm for may 14

on the runway. look at what happened. this pilot of a boeing 7.67. told the control power that the landing gear had failed to open the plane did safely land. no injuries were reported. not a national news and adult film star stormy daniels expected to return to the witness stand tomorrow in the hush money trial of former president donald trump court is closed today yesterday. daniels went into explicit details about this alleged encounter with the former president. trump denies that it ever happened. according to people inside of the courtroom, the former president's scowled shook his head and muttered as daniels described the incident, she says happened nearly 2 decades ago. trump faces 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in attempt to cover up the payments to daniel starting his 2016 election campaign. he has pleaded not guilty if convicted. trump faces 4 years in prison.

identity of the cyclists killed. a farmer solano state prisons. corrections officer has been arrested and charged for allegedly smuggling weapons into the prison and taking bribes. the suspect who is not being named just yet served as a correctional officer at the prison between 2020 2021. and during that time he allegedly accepted thousands of dollars in cash payments for smuggling cellphones, tobacco, alcohol and weapons. tiktok is now suing the u.s. government. this after president biden signed a law forcing the chinese owned app to sell to a u.s. company or have a band kron four's. catherine heenan reports. >> and some very unusual territory. the u.s. government has passed a law that effectively gives it the right to take away one of the most popular social media apps in the world in arguing against

the new law. tiktok says its app is an important avenue for expression. >> pointing out that more than 170 million people in the u.s. use. it roughly half the country. it says that by taking away the government is infringing on our first amendment rights. meantime, is there really a significant security threat posed by tiktok? >> what i think is interesting here is that the for the last few years now the government keeps saying there is a national security concern with tiktok and we've heard of this now under republican and democratic presidents and in both cases, we have not gotten the details, right? the government has not made its case to the american public about why this hugely popular app should be banned. it just teams, gesturing and national security. and i think that's part of why this case is going to be so fascinating. >> there were renewed calls to ban tiktok after the october

7th hamas attack. some users saying more anti-semitic contact was showing up. others argue the new law is an attempt to suppress pro palestine voices. in any case, the fallout from a trial could reach far beyond tiktok. one of the things that tiktok makes the case about in its. >> filing against the government. is that a number of other social media companies and apps in general would need to be banned under these rules that the government has set out effectively it saying that if you're going to treat us all fairly, which, you know, the constitution says equal protection under the law. then it's not going to just be tiktok tickets band. it's going to be a lot of stuff. and i think that is going to be an interesting part of the debate as well. if the law does not go away, he ensure thanks tiktok would just leave the country. no sale. >> but many would be surprised if this does not end up before the supreme court. catherine heenan kron, 4 news.

saturday as well, frankly. and then a little cooler by sunday. but front, that's sunny forecast persists. we're really in a pattern of warm temperatures take a nap as an example where the average highs about 75 today looking out for upper 70's tomorrow. mid 80's are going possibly upper 80's, right as we head into friday and even saturday, they're close to it as mentioned. pull back a little on sunday. and by the way, overnight lows. 55 to 60 degrees as we get into tonight. so we're just way off the charts right now with temperatures. and as we look at this, it shows us the iso bars of of temperature. you see high pressure in control, low pressure kind of retrograding a little. they're setting up that when gradient. that's friday. when that wind peaks, we get that northeasterly flow that offshore wind and also the warmth is going to peak on friday to and then you can see more high pressure kind of nudging a hidden and that keeps us warm. so here's the set up. you can see it right here. the gradient between the 2 creating some of that when the high pressure keeping us warm, the wind certainly kicking up because of it. you

former interpreter for a loss angeles dodgers star shohei ohtani has agreed to plead guilty to bank and tax fraud. >> this is coming from a sports betting case in which prosecutors allege he stole nearly 17 million dollars from the japanese baseball player in order to pay off debts. the scandal surrounding the pay mizuhara shocked baseball fans when this came to light in march, mizuhara will plead guilty to one count of bank fraud and one count of subscribing to a false tax return. the bank fraud charge carries a maximum of 30 years in federal prison and the false tax return charge carries a sentence of up to 3 years in federal prison. the plea agreement says that mizuhara will be required to pay ohtani restitution. that could total nearly 17 million dollars as well as more than 1 million dollars to the irs. those amounts could change prior to sentencing. and it is officially nurses week at time to gratitude for the people
