of cool down in the upper 40's right now. later on today, we are going to see some of those low 80's for the first time. this forecast, but certainly not the last day of seeing them. i'll get some more details as we go. all right, john, thank you for that. well, as get year-old on wednesday morning, if you're making your way. >> into the city right now, not seeing major delays. traffic is starting to build just a little bit. 11 minutes traveling into the city right to that fremont street exit san mateo bridge just s 14, accidents or hazards to start. richmond center fell bridge around 8 minutes. golden gate bridge just short of 20 check your highways are seeing a lot of greenville highway for a long, 80 as you're traveling reveal. things are starting to pick up just a little bit. there are days back to a hundreds of students gathering there at sproul plaza at u c berkeley calling for an end to the war. >> in the middle east, this big demonstration as israeli troops seized the palestinian

side of the border at the rafah crossing, which is a vital entryway for humanitarian aid. now those camping out say they've been protesting since the war started 7 months ago and they will continue to hold these rallies until there is a cease-fire. >> during the rally in camp and expanded with more tense. going up during finals week. >> finals. i'm graduating this semester. >> but none of that matters you know, people halfway across the world are, you know, are being killed just indiscriminately. >> yeah, campus police have been patrolling the area but seems as though as long as in camp and in the rallies remained peaceful, though, allowed the students to remain there. >> college graduation ceremonies. have we seen, though, have been canceled in some parts of the nation and here in the bay area? there are concerns because of the ongoing protests. yeah, this is especially true for the upcoming uc berkeley graduation ceremonies which are expected this weekend.

>> that kron four's will tran is live for us on campus. there with the latest. will. >> james darya concerns? yes. cancellations know you can see the encampment right behind me and absolutely it has gotten bigger over the last several days. i was here last week and they did not take over the entire lawn here in the front side of sproul hall. but you can clearly see they haven't actually stretches around the corner. here's what you need to know. their ceremonies will continue to take place on saturday if they were deciding whether or not to cancel it, but they say they will continue. it will be held at the football field despite the encampment continuing to be on campus. there are so many police officers and security guards monitoring the situation. family and friends are pouring into berkeley, waiting for that very special day. and we just heard it is finals week after that wraps up, they will have thousands

of people at the football field and they are going to treat like a football game. meaning you have to go through metal detectors. they will not allow banners. you will have to have clear backpack if you are going to bring in a backpack. so they know exactly what you're bringing in. now, there is no guarantee that there won't be any disruptions at me when you have creativity that could happen. but uc berkeley says they are prepared for this because protests are synonymous with berkeley. uc berkeley dating back to the 60's. the protesters they have not said that they plan to disrupt graduation, but they also have not said that they won't disrupt graduations. so that looming threat is always there. uc berkeley says, of course, they're not going to tip their hand on what they plan to do uc berkeley, as well as the other uc schools. piers, all systems go for this saturday. back to you. all right. thanks a lot. we'll

check back with you throughout the morning. will. >> 604 is the time and that's go to the south bay. now we're unfortunately one man has died and another in jail after a driver ran a red light in south san jose crashing into a cyclist. this is the 17th traffic fatality of the year in san jose kron four's jack moment reports. >> locals in san jose. you could hardly hear yourself think on capital rest. the ice is bracy lolo farfan has worked at the jack in the box for 9 she has a front row seat to the may have read. he gets a lot of traffic. is is begun. gives she says crashes here. happened all the time. but just before 7.30, tuesday guide that up. that the i spoke, a driver running a red light, just like many cars did during our day reporting here, except this time the car crashed into a cyclist killing them on the it's frustrating

for safe streets. advocates back siegel capital has been a problematic spot for traffic death in san jose. this traffic death, the san jose's 17th for the year. >> and that's outpacing the city's rate of murder. >> the city isn't meeting its goals. and i think we need to look at it with a fresh set of eyes. >> siegel says despite work done to fix some of san jose's wide roads, the city is not prioritizing issue. one that was created, he says by design, but they had the ability to break the law. they they funneled to the intersection, really made it easy for them to. >> to come there until the mayor's office sent us a statement that blames reckless and distracted driving, quote. >> moments like this are tragic reminder that speeding may save a minute but slowing down literally saves lives. and for siegel with this being the 3rd traffic death in just 2 weeks. >> more action is needed now more than ever. >> we as a community make need to make it clear to city hall where our priorities are. and

it's for safety above saving. a couple minutes >> now the driver of that truck was booked into santa clara county jail on several different charges. meantime, the identity of that cyclist who was killed here in san jose, their identity is still being withheld by police until they can notify their family. for now, we're here in san jose jack molmud kron. 4 news. >> and there is the fatal crash that happened in san jose around 8.30, on highway 101 near trumbull road that police are investigating. this was a fatality both side, the off and on ramps as trimble were closed while they were investigating 606, in the east bay. one person involved in a car crash over the weekend was found shot in their car. this happened sunday night. it was a solo crash on benedict drive. and when police got there, that's when they found the driver in the car with a gunshot wound and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. investigators saying that the shooting happened in

the area in the same area basically before the crash. if you know anything about this call, the police. >> employees at an east bay, mcdonald's the the workers are on strike after the health department forced it to close because of rafts. they're asking for the owners now to hire professionals to clean up the mess that's inside. they say they'll resume working once their demands are met. mcdonald's says during the shutdown, people who were scheduled to work will be paid. workers we spoke with says that's news to them. well, in the north bay, a month-long pilot program is underway now in the city of vallejo, nebraska street between amador and pierce streets in fallujah will be closed to through traffic on school days. the road will be closed from 9 in the morning until 4 o'clock in the afternoon. that closures in

response now to several shootings in frequent speeders that can make it unsafe for kids. students are hoping the project works. >> you know, just walk over here freely without having wear a watch. our backs in u.s.. >> well, neighbors close to the schools are nervous that with the closures, the speeding will happen on their street. the pilot program will run until june. 7th will see what it discovers. >> california representative eric swalwell along with other u.s. representatives have introduced a bill. >> to make buying a home easier and more accessible for teachers. >> the education down payment assistance act would give local governments the ability to give down payment assistance, too educators and that would provide aid to full-time public school educators. school staff who are first-time home buyers with the rising cost of rental properties. teachers spend nearly half of their income on rent. this bill is meant to

provide teachers with some of the resources they need to afford a home in the neighborhood where they teach. the city of richmond has passed a resolution for the state used a nonprofit electric company instead of pg and e it's symbolic this vote. but the vice mayor says that for years the city has dealt with power outages and problems including the failure of pga need to supply energy to city parks. >> we we don't as responds. especially low-income communities and communities of color. that actually say reliable and say these the think i but the ways to really take. the power. way from corporation. >> in a statement pg and e says it does not support the idea of a statewide public utility because they say this type of ownership framework

for to know. vacaville police have arrested several people, including a driver. >> for driving on the wrong side of interstate 80 during heavy traffic yesterday afternoon. the driver was wanted on several charges, including violating a domestic violence restraining order. san francisco is pushing a proposal that would turn a mile long section of the great highway into a park. it would be closed to vehicles. this plan is part of the city's long-term plan to deal with climate change. nearly 6 million dollars is going to be used to build new homes for farmworkers in half moon bay.

sonoma county through the day today. some pretty strong winds, especially in our upper elevations of the north bay. and we do have gale warnings out along the coastline due to some strong northerly winds out that way as well. aside from that temperatures, just notably getting warmer 60's to 70's for sf shorten t-shirt kind of day for san francisco, which, you know, you don't see all the time. so hopefully get enjoy that downright hot for a lot of the rest of the base in carlos through the south bay, rising into the low 80's today, san jose up to 82 degrees. pleasanton dublin, each at 78. well, oaklander right at 78 degrees as well. we'll see some low 80's up in the north bay with any act in pittsburgh, right at 80 degrees. santa rosa at 82. your lookahead shows temperatures tomorrow friday and saturday. the very warmest of this forecast will be in the upper 80's to near 90 degrees for some inland spots. bayshore city's rising well into the 80's in many cases. we'll back off the heat a

little bit into early next week. rain is right look at the roads scaled back and things are already going on outside. john, like a 20 minute delay on bart. >> this is on the san francisco line in the sfo millbrae in daly city directions. police activity going on there. so factor that in. if you are hopping on bart other highways, ridge is looking good like the bay bridge. still little backed up, but you're still under 15 minutes. so you're making decent time right now. 14 minute ride on the san mateo bridge, 80 to 101. checking on those highways. 1, 1, of the south bay, 85 to menlo park about 30 minutes. 2, 80 82 into 37. you're also making good time. these are starting to slow just a pinch. a lull, 8 80's silly traveling down to 37 and the hayward area. but as soon as you hit free making great time. all right. james, back to you. thank you. reyna at 6.18, and happening now, police in oakland released this sketch of a man wanted for a homicide. that happened on august. 30th of last year

around midnight on east 18th avenue. 2 people were shot. >> and one named damani william died in that shooting. the other victim went to the hospital. no word on the severity of their injuries at this point. police also releasing a picture of the ford f one 50 pickup truck that they're looking for this. they believe the murder was driving a richmond non profit called pogo park has won a state grant to build a new recreation center. it's going to double as an emergency shelter to its a 10 million dollar grant that will be used to construct contra costa county's first rex enter at harbor a park construction fact is already underway for the harbor hall and it's expected to be done by the end of this year. it's a 10 million dollar project. 6 million is going to be spent for the physical injuries, infrastructure and then 3 million for programs and million for the of valuation and general program support. so what's the latest with

tiktok? that's a big story. they made good on their promise to challenge a new law that would result in the banning of the tiktok app in the u.s.. the company filed a suit for an injunction to block the law from being enforced. they say it's unconstitutional. citing first amendment grounds. the u.s. however, says that the app is a national security threat because the chinese company that owns tiktok could collect data on all americans who use it and then spread propaganda. the lawsuit alleges that the law compromises the company's right to free speech. we'll dish washers and stoves were the focus of debate in congress on tuesday. the u.s. house passed a bill to stop new energy regulations on household appliances. so for more on this, want to go to washington where our correspondent there maddie beer-temple joins us live from dc with more on this monday. >> good morning. yes, called the hands off our home

appliances act. the legislation passed in the house with all republicans and 7 democrats voting for it. it takes aim at new energy efficiency standards for appliances. >> arizona republican congresswoman debbie lesko says her bill protects home appliances, dishwashers, washing machine showers, toilets and sends a message to president biden take his hands for home appliances. the so named hands off our home appliances act passed the house tuesday. it aims to stop the biden administration from enforcing new energy efficient standards for consumer goods. republicans say the department of energy's regulations will limit consumer choices and raise prices. this administration's pursuit of a radical rush to green new deal agenda. >> common sense has taken a back seat, but some democrats against the bills say it's rooted in misinformation that the biden administration is going after appliances. they

>> 6.24 is the time in dublin. police now looking for 2 people who robbed a mail carrier. this happened monday in the area of obispo court right near highway 5.80, officers say 2 men wearing black mask demanded the carrier give them her mailbox key and phone. they say one of the suspects pointed a gun at her. the postal carrier. luckily wasn't hurt. well on insurance comparison site. ensure. if i just released a list of car brands, most often ticketed for speeding and it turns out foreign brands dominated the list. infinity is the most frequently cited with a 0.7% of drivers reporting speeding tickets.

latest on the story. michael. >> hey, good morning, everyone. this new funding really will allow up to a 50 manufactured new homes. and take a look. this is actually the area where it's going to be happening. at some point. they're still going through that permit process. but it's going to include helping some of those that were displaced from last year's mass shooting. now, take a look. these are some renderings that were put out by the county officials. and as james and ari mentioned, mateo county board of supervisors approved it yesterday. and that amount is up to 6 million dollars close to it to build affordable housing for coastal farm workers. and these renderings are showing that it's called pine cove and it's at the end of a cul-de-sac. it's about a half mile away from half moon bay. haha, excuse me. and it's going to be about 5 acres or so. this is city owned property inland and well, it was just approved this week. this ad actually stems from the county commission report that was done about a decade ago back in 2016. take a look. these are photos that we have of what the conditions were

looking like for farm workers during that mass shooting when they investigated. this is what they found. and so county officials say they are happy to move and make things quicker making this all happened. but again, it stemming from reports of back in 2016 at that time they found that they needed to improve the quality availability and affordability of housing for farmworkers in the area. so they're hoping to do this at some point soon. but right now they're still in that permit process. they do have some of those sign inches that this is what the areas currently looking like back out here live. so as we get more details this morning will continue to keep you updated. but for now, we'll send it back to live in the studio. all right. thanks a lot, michael. its 6.32, right now. and amid. >> the storm and fire emergencies that we have seen statewide in recent years. there's a new bill in sacramento that would create a fund to assist communities that otherwise wouldn't qualify for assistance. a group of lawmakers introduced this bill yesterday to create

100 million dollars in this really fun for those who are not eligible for federal or state assistance due to the extent of damages to the community or because of their immigration status. mean, you're you're just seeing some of the damage that storms and whatnot has caused. it would establish also 400 million dollar california local assistance program to help tribal and local governments to rebuild after disasters. it's a win-win across the state. hopefully nothing ever happens. but if it does, we have a plan for our communities that are going to suffer because >> once again, we can't rely on the federal government because of all the bring at least we have our own fun here. we should create a sustainable program that will make sure that for any future to know that if they don't qualify for federal assistance, that the state will step in. >> and make sure that these communities are taking care of. >> the money would come from the state's current greenhouse gas reduction fund. right now, there is no formal opposition to this bill. latino teachers

and community members of oak grove unified school district plan to picket today ahead of the school board meeting. their goal is to reinstitute the bilingual liaison and commit to language justice in policy in daily practice. the community leaders say the removal of the liaison, which happened in march, has her parents trying to voice their concerns and recommendations that directly affect their children. the rally happens today at the oak grove district around 4.30. >> will 2 people, including a teenage girl are in the hospital now after being struck by a hit and run driver in san francisco. was happening as police were chasing the driver from the tenderloin through north beach and then the chase ended right outside our kron. 4 studios here along the embarcadero kron four's dan kerman has the story. it's here along the embarcadero at green street where san francisco police took the hit and run suspect into custody. this after at least the 3rd incident of the

day when the white mustang he was driving slammed into this parked car. no one was injured at this location, but that's not the case at the other locations put >> and i'm like police say. it all began just before 08:00am the suspect's vehicle hit a pedestrian near jones and market tire tracks are clearly visible. the victim, an urban alchemy employee, was taken to a local hospital and will survive. police say a few blocks away. officers spotted the suspect's vehicle driving recklessly when the suspect failed. the yield when officers initiated a traffic stop. police say a vehicle pursuit began about 9.30. the chase reached francisco middle school. it's their police say the suspects vehicle hit a 14 year-old girl who was crossing francisco street from the main campus to the auxiliary campus so that there was crossing the street from building to building and was in the crosswalk. >> and the guy was running out of, you know, running. because

the police often. so put the good here. have the good he can run supervisor. aaron peskin who represents that neighborhood says the girl was taken to san francisco general hospital with a fractured shoulder and ankle. but will survive. it's at that point. police say they shut down the chase to to safety concerns. >> minutes later, officers spotted the suspect's vehicle stopped in embarcadero in green. it's their they took the suspect into custody. francisco police are allowed to conduct vehicle pursuits under certain circumstances with these chase protocols followed in this case, supervisor peskin says both and the police are evaluating that right now. >> in san francisco, dan kerman kron, 4 news. >> in the south bay police were busy over cinco de mayo weekend arresting almost 90 people in san jose. police department says officers arrested 17 felony arrests. 18

warrant arrests and 52 arrests for misdemeanors. they say most of the crimes committed involved first fights, i should say, duis, sideshows and reckless behavior. >> we had a significant amount of activities popping up all over the city in which we have to try and utilize resources and take away from the celebrations trying comeback. officers were getting bottles thrown at their vehicles we had officers had been assaulted people driving drunk. we had one vehicle crashed into a patrol was doing a diversion and injured officers. >> well, police say 2 people aere also stabbed over the weekend. one is still in critical condition. police say despite the chaos that unfolded this week, they still look forward to celebrating the holiday next year. >> where millions of muslims around the world not only for not >> and investigation is underway and to this incident that happened last month. this

was graduating uc berkeley law, students. and the situation here got heated one, a pro-palestinian protesters stood up to read speech. >> about ramadan and the war in gaza. >> this dinner was being held at the home of berkeley law professors for the graduates in the video shows one of them taking the mic fun way to the student telling her to leave this private home. according to nbc news, uc berkeley is launching a civil rights investigation into allegations of harassment by the protester. at san francisco state university president met with the demonstrators who are camped out here, students demanding ever see cut financial ties that they may have. the college has with israel. the president lynn mahoney says that the school may consider avoiding investments in israel based on the quote, mechanics of war.

>> well, u.s. department of education now investigating reports of anti-semitism in the berkeley unified school district. the department's office for civil rights is investigating a complaint now of severe and persistent bullying and harassment jewish tons. federal officials say the harassment has reportedly been happening since hamas attacked israel in october of last year. the district superintendent was called to testify today before members of congress. the anti defamation league was one of the groups that filed a federal complaint back in february. this will be the first hearing on anti-semitism at k through 12 schools. congress previously held hearings on reports of anti-semitism at college campuses across the country. well, andy, a police now looking for this man who allegedly stole someone's birthday gift right off her porch. they say it happened last year or last week near a street. officers say the thief is often seen on the same bike is shown on the screen here in the area of a street and east
