6:37 pm
warm temperatures above average temperatures coming our way as we kind of settle in for the remainder of the week. so we've gone from one extreme to another from snow in the mountains to now some much warmer weather. fire weather forecast to looks little bit the elevated tomorrow, though, not a huge risk as we're seeing a lot of moisture still and much of the terrain around the bay area. but as we get a long, dry summer months ahead, that is all going to change. and here's long-range outlook for the summer, june july and august. and you can see toward the bay area, probably some he conditions for a slightly above the average as we head in toward the summer months. we'll just have to see how that all works out. but that's way looks right now in some long-range model. in the short term, though, we've got that offshore wind that will be kicking in. that means it's going to be windy, especially inland over the mountain tops. you see some gusty winds, maybe 40 45 mile an hour gusts in parts of the north and the east bay, the warm temperatures. nice all the way. the coastline forecast numbers looking like this as we head toward early tomorrow morning. you start to see some of those gusts over 40 miles an hour in vacaville into fairfield, possibly in an app
6:38 pm
and 2. and as we head through the day tomorrow, that continues probably going to see another round of some gusty winds early on thursday morning. but those offshore winds going to make for some beautiful weather outside all the way to the coastline. wind advisories are up, though, much of the north bay and the east bay. watch out for those gusty winds. all right, lawrence, here tiktok is now suing the u.s. government in an attempt to block the federal law that's forcing either a sale or a ban of the popular app. >> the law passed with bipartisan support just last month. the lawsuit is challenging its constitutionality. our conference, catherine heenan, not live the newsroom with some details on this. hi, catherine. high vicki, you know, we knew that this was coming basically, but analysts say the fascinating part of this fight will be in watching how the government response to the lawsuit. >> we are in some very unusual territory. the u.s. government has passed a law that effectively gives it the right to take away one of the most popular social media apps in

the world in arguing against the new law. tiktok says its app is an important avenue for expression. >> pointing out that more than 170 million people in the u.s. use. it roughly half the country. it says that by taking away the government is infringing on our first amendment rights. meant me, is there really a significant security threat posed by tiktok? >> what i think is interesting here is that the for the last few years now the government keeps saying there is a national security concern with tiktok and we've heard this now under republican and democratic presidents and in both cases, we have not gotten the details, right? the government has not made its case to the american public about why this hugely popular app should be banned. it just teams, gesturing and national security. and i think that's part of why this case is going to be so fascinating.
6:40 pm
>> there were renewed calls to ban tiktok after the october 7th hamas attack. some users saying more anti-semitic content was showing up. others argue the new law is an attempt to suppress pro palestine voice us. in any case, the fallout from a trial could reach far beyond tiktok. one of the things that tiktok makes the case about in its. >> filing against the government. is that a number of other social media companies and apps in general would need to be banned under these rules that the government has set out effectively it saying that if you're going to treat us all fairly, which, you know, the constitution says equal protection under the law. then it's not going to just be tiktok tickets band. it's going to be a lot of stuff. and i think that is going to be an interesting part of the debate as well. tiktok says the amount of effort it would take to sell the company to get another engineering team
6:41 pm
in place. >> just is not workable. and the roughly 270 days it's been given. so in tiktok's few apparently either this law goes away or it will leave the country in january of 2025, but could also be a long legal fight. ensure says that he will be surprised if the case does not end up before the supreme court. vicki and ken catherine, thank you. developing tonight, the federal judge presiding over former president trump's classified documents case. >> has canceled. the may 20th trial date postponing it indefinitely. judge aileen cannon cited still unresolved issues in the case as well as the other case in manhattan saying that it would be imprudent to finalize a new trial date. now the move cast doubt on the ability to bring the former president to trial ahead of the november election. >> meantime, adult film actress stormy daniels testified for nearly 4 hours today in the hush money trial
