5.30, in the area of south king road and way. police have been asking people to avoid the area as there were a lot of cars and people that already been out there for the celebrations, we're still working to get some more information as police are investigating tonight. well, as for those celebrations are happening all over the bay area today and in san jose every year thousands of people own san jose to celebrate kron four's jacmel. but joining us live from downtown san jose with more. hey yet. and that's right. things are pretty wild throughout the day out, probably count at least aliyah 1000 people here throughout the day cesar chavez things went by pretty smoothly throughout most of the day. but that doesn't mean things ended going off and hits there with as a police saying that they had to detour a section of santa clara street, put that claim to be some sideshows later in the >> a long before san jose police did to at this section

police sharing this picture on twitter were few pictures on twitter about an hour ago saying this driver was identified as a side show promoter and was arrested for recklessly evading police. opd says it has additioral units out there tonight prepared to respond to any sideshows that might pop up. new at 10 police in oakland are also investigating after a person was shot and killed late near lake merritt. police say the shooting happened just before noon on first avenue. the victim's name has not been released in that same area, though a driver crashed into a parking lot and america's best value inn on east 12th street. and this is a video and images from the citizen app. police have not confirmed if that shooting, though, was connected to that crash. people rallied in lafayette today bringing attention in the 100 hostages still being held by hamas. attendees say

students over the use of force for the removal. rachel menitoff has more from exhibition park. >> ric, kareen, the president says she won't tolerate any more illegal encampments, especially during finals weekend ahead of commencement activities. but some say the overnight police response was unnecessary and excessive la pd once again cracking down on a newly formed encampment. >> sunday morning, it issued a notice to disperse to everyone in the center of usc's after giving one final chance to voluntarily leave. it took about an hour to clear the area and no one was arrested. this student journalist with annenberg media has been covering the battle between the university and demonstrators protesting israel's offensive in gaza following the october 7 put off as someone who's been here. the camp, the encampments have been peaceful, not deceptive.

hydrated. pool parties without a pool right down. thank you. you're welcome. well, california is getting ready for wildfire season. both cal fire and governor newsom. >> calling this week, wildfire preparedness week. they want to bring awareness on how different state organizations are getting ready. and cal fire has already been using controlled burns in vegetation management to focus on lowering the amount of natural fuel that's out there. governor newsom reported dave treated more than 100,000 acres in the last year in hopes of reducing the intensity of the wildfires. new tonight, we are learning more about an explosion in a mobile home after a lightning strike. kimberly cruz talk with neighbors who were just inches away from the fire and she shows us the aftermath. >> neighbors in a panic. >> house. >> as they watched flames erupt over their neighbor's home just before 07:00pm on saturday. >> neighbors describe scene a bright flash followed by a loud noise, super intense.

>> thinking that something hit my house minutes later, an outbreak of flames and then just kind of watched within probably 10 minutes. it go from smoke to flame in fire department showed up. we'll take a look. this is all that's left behind from that fire that completely destroyed this mobile home saturday evening. all of the damage is still very much visible. there's pieces of furniture completely burned. other personal items just all lost in this fire. and even a day later, the smell of the burning home still lingers, according to the battalion chief with the new castle fire protection district. the cause of the fire is still under investigation, but adds they believe a lightning strike started off yesterday. >> just the right situation for some isolated areas to get, you know, more abundant lightning because you might notice that we had a lot of small hail yesterday that small hail since he was rubbing together up in the clouds causing a lot of friction. a lot of charge to

cultural center's to combat hate crimes. the port of oakland's free harbor tours are returning this friday. it's a 90 minute narrated tour. organizers say it's a unique opportunity to see the port up close while enjoying a sunset cruise along the oakland estuary and the san francisco bay. the season runs through october. you can reserve your tickets online. east bay homes are teaming up to create a garden tour. bringing back the natives garden tour is going to go through 18 home gardens in the east bay. they will visit antioch, conquer danville, pleasant hill, and walnut creek, as well as some other cities out that way. these events showcase lots of colorful plants as well as ones that don't need a lot of water that or teaches a people had create gardens that uses native species. that bloom it different times throughout the year, bringing in lots of colors to those local if you're interested, you can sign up online. coming up here

greatest. we could be more proud announce today. record breaking tourism numbers in the state of california over 150 billion dollars tourism. ur state's history. >> looks like the governor is biden's aviators up the golden gate bridge that the governor was there because he was touting a huge tourism boost here in california. the governor announcing that tourists have spent more than 150 billion dollars in the state in the past year surpassing the 144 billion dollar record set back in 2019, which means that tourism is actually better than before the pandemic. the governor says that not only is the state retaining its title as the world's 5th largest economy. it's also growing in population for the first time since covid-19, according to the latest the travel industry supported approximately 1.2 million jobs last year. that's about that's up about 6%. tourists created about 4% more revenue than in 2023. and

spent about 5% more. well, even though the governor chose to announce the tourism boost from san francisco, the city is still not seeing a full recovery from covid like the rest of the state. san francisco may just over 13 billion dollars from tourists in 2023. that's about a billion more than 2020. but still about a billion dollars shy of pre-pandemic records. the one that was set back in 2019 just over 14 billion bucks. but hey, things seem to be going pretty well. one person dead tonight, though, after several cars crashed in san jose. chp says the crash happened little after 1 o'clock this morning. several cars crashing on 1, near north mathilda avenue. investigators were forced to shut down those southbound lanes of 101 for at least 3 hours. those lanes reopened just before 5 o'clock this morning. it's still unclear what started this crash in the first place. now
