be a dry one on sunday. yeah. yeah. some better weather tomorrow. you may woken up to some raindrops. i sure didn't. the east bay. >> i have some rain totals for you. you as you know, the mountain mount tam and cut the most to 2 inches of rain and over an read half moon bay, santa rosa made an engine. san francisco close to an inch of rain in 24 hours. pretty significant, especially this time late in the season. so you can see that activity is now tapering off the sierra is getting some snow tonight. there's actually a winter storm warning in place. not ideal travel tonight, but you can see the activity has is starting to diminish. you may see a stray shower or 2 overnight, but now it's going to be all about the chilly temperatures. we are 11 degrees down this time yesterday in santa rosa. it you can see in the north bay fairfield down 10, then 7 degrees down in san jose. so that will be the next weather headline because we are now behind this front. so be all about the overnight chilly temperatures from that tonight and sunday into monday. so

temperatures are down to the 40's in places like santa rosa and napa. it low 50's in mountain view and san jose. we will be dealing with the freeze. you can see it's still breezy tonight along the coast, especially relatively calm as you make your way to the south bay. so tomorrow will be sunny, but we will be breezy, but we will be warmer in the 60's. we'll see some mostly sunny skies and then we start to warm up starting tuesday and believe it or not. we have 80's back in the forecast. even close to 90's inland next weekend. details in my full forecast. back to you. all right, jill, thanks a lot. students around the bay area continuing protests enter college campuses. >> in support of palestinian people amid israel's war on gaza. and today, those encampments were recovering from the rain while preparing for what comes next. kron four's jack moment has more from san jose. well, some of the protests have been lasting for days, others weeks, but they're continuing to press forward here in the bay area. >> with students wanting their schools to divest or be

transparent about their financial ties with the nation of israel. but it may be quiet here in san jose state's campus. but pretty soon it may have its own protest as well. san jose's gearing up for graduation, but online, there's chatter about a pro-palestine protest happening on may. saw people next to help building just like painting a big sign. robert cleveland is graduating soon and says he supports the ongoing protests, possibly reaching his i feel like it needs to be i wasn't. it's not happening with the government. >> at >> i mean, we're we're the ones that contain everything. coming up, head north to palo alto. this group of students is on day 8 of a pro-palestine protest camp out on their campus. even that everything's good posters soiled by the recent rain. but wooden pallets and tarps were able to keep students sleeping here last night. but friday evening, a counter-protester violated vigil of candles. students tell us they say police responded and took the counter protester away. kron 4

permanent end to the war hamas delegation is meeting in cairo. negotiators say both sides have agreed to significant concessions after months of stalled talks. meanwhile, an american official with the united nations says northern gaza's experiencing full-blown famine and it could soon make its way to the southern part of the enclave. new at 10 o'clock open. police are offering a reward for anyone who has information on 2 homicides that took place about a year apart. they believe these 2 cases may be connected. police say multiple suspects are connected to the homicide of henry tejada and deshaun roads. tejada was shot and killed on april. 28 2020 near foothill church. the great 2020 nissan armada without license plates was seen pulling up before. multiple people got out and shot him. he was 23 years old. the car was later recovered in determined to be a rental from reno, nevada. rhodes was also killed by gunfire on june 19th

2021. on the lakeshore in brooklyn, right in front of lake merritt. anyone with information about either one of these cases is being asked to call oakland police. the suspect in a standoff on i-80 in fairfield remains in critical condition tonight. after chp says he shot himself. chp originally reported he was dead but said late last night that medical teams were able to revive him at a hospital. the standoff began after a multi-county pursuit which originated in sonoma county yesterday afternoon. the eventual police standoff in fairfield shutdown 80 in both directions for hours last night affecting thousands of bay area drivers. all lanes were back open as of this morning, the solano county district attorney's office is now handling the investigation. oakland police are increasing the number officers on patrol this weekend. they're trying to prevent illegal sideshow activity for cinco de mayo. the department says during 2022 2023, they told 150 cars

issued nearly 80 citations and made several arrests. the city of san jose is gearing up for its annual cinco de mayo celebrations this weekend, united low-rider council of san jose brought out their cars last night for a preview what to expect to see tomorrow. plenty of car fans take pictures out there as low rider council says it's been working with the san jose police department and the city on how to make this year's celebration better. last year, local leaders called the san jose police tactics to shut down highways during cinco de mayo. racist. >> last year there some issues with some we met with the sounds of police she's my staff we what last year and week. a mother come out class and council come out and that would be for the seat of the mob that and for most of what the plans were.

>> highway 82 is back open in palo alto after being closed. it university avenue because of flooding under the overpass. police say the highway opened at about 2.30 this afternoon after being closed for more than 2 hours. the national weather service. so there was a lot of rain that was going to be hitting the bay area on saturday. and

of course, we saw the rain earlier today is a look at bay bridge toll plaza which seems to be nice and dry out there this evening. gayle ong joining us. >> look at the hello. a nice and dry over at sfo as well. so here's that satellite loop from the last 24 hours. you can see overnight that band came through. you may have or the rain in the morning. >> it was a solid band of rain. here is pretty we definitely saw 2 inches in the highest peaks like mount tam and then read half moon bay. and now all that activity is heading to the sierra here. so there's a winter storm warning in place for tonight until tomorrow morning. but for us, we're starting to clear out so we have some clouds right now, but that will be clearing out, as you can see in our future cast model, just some passing clouds, maybe a stray shower overnight. but when you wake up tomorrow, mostly clear skies here and same thing for the afternoon. it will be breezy, though, so that as the front lee's, we will be behind this cold front and it will leave us some breezy conditions. so don't let the

sun it will be, especially by the coast here. so here's that. the future wind gusts. we're at the teens and 20's right now and the higher peaks, stronger winds. and then here is the morning. we% remain in the teens and 20's, more stronger winds along the coast. we get a pop around the afternoon at 24 miles per hour in san rafale. 26 over in sanford. just go. 24 in oakland and expect that breeze to stick around for the afternoon and evening overnight lows in the upper 30's in the north bay like santa rosa. napa. you may see maybe flirting with the upper 30's and low 40's. but everywhere else where in the 40's for the day and will be warming up to the 50's 60's so much warmer than today will still be in the upper 50's in oakland, san francisco mill valley, but low 60's as you make your way inland. a hayward fremont and san jose that low 60's. but we will be warming up. take a look at the 7 day forecast all the changes. so sunday, cinco de mayo looks like we have better weather than we did today in

the 60's around our inland communities and the bay 50's along the coast. but as you make your way towards tuesday, wednesday, even stretching all the way to next saturday, we could see close to 90 degrees for inland communities. so we are rebounding with the temperatures. wow, sensitive to heat. you know, you want to be careful. stay hydrated. be prepared for that. because we're not used to, you know, getting into the warmer months. but so bottom line will be dry. looks like but will be hot sauce. yeah, i think people are really been waiting for a weekend like that. exactly i know especially this season, right? we've been talking about rain a lot. every weekend, we're kind of going, hey, guess what? don't have any plans to dry weekends in a row. but yes, better weather tomorrow. all right down, thank you. you're welcome. >> alright, police arrest a man accused of striking someone with in the head with a rifle in walnut creek. police say this attack happened back in march near las lomas high school. the victim was found with a head wound believed to be from the stock end of an assault rifle.

suspect was later identified as 28 year-old malcolm harris of sassoon city. this week, harris was found and arrested by police in las vegas. he's currently in the contra costa county jail. and hayward is arrested after investigators say he shot a man and then buried the body. witnesses say the shooting happened back on april. 26 near san antonio in hammond streets. 40's later the suspected shooter was seen riding an atv near the train tracks and tennyson road. police say they tried to stop him, but he led them on a chase to a home near last chance streets. police say he went inside a garage and then barricaded himself. they say after hours of negotiations, andres sanchez peacefully surrendered and was taken into custody. that same day investigators went back to the shooting location and they found the victim's body covered with dirt and debris. some victims identity has not yet been released. driverless cars are coming to the peninsula. maybe farther south waymo is now planning to

expand its services to sunnyvale. the california public utilities commission approved the expansion back in january and the pilot program will now only be available to waymo employees at first and they will only be able to order riders only trips anywhere from san francisco down to san mateo and burlingame. pro-palestinian protests, protesters and supporters briefly disrupting the commencement ceremony today at the university of michigan. the demonstrators called on the university to divest their ties with israel. they chanted disclose divest. we will not stop. we will not rest. it was only a brief interruption of the ceremony, though. and in the meantime, it's rallied at kent state university during the school's remembrance of the may 4th shootings. 54 years ago today, those demonstrators standing their ground but keeping a promise. dave nethers reports

mcdonald's has been shut down after an alleged a rat infestation. >> kron four's lezla gooden was at the mcdonald's near lake merrit when the fast food restaurant was forced to close up and has videos of the rats employees shared with kron 4. we do have a warning for you, video may be difficult to watch. >> i was right in the parking lot of a mcdonald's located at 13, 30 jackson street in oakland when a health department employee started turning customers away, who were inside and in the middle of the drive-thru, i asked what was the cause of the store closure. this was her response from the health department. they have some sanitation the season. they need to clean up. >> what did you find you mind telling >> and this comes while 6 mcdonald's employees are actively on strike from this location due to what they say is an unhealthy working

condition. now, take a look at this video captured inside by a worker where you can see a live rat on the counter. now the mcdonald's employees say they have found rat eating food prepared for customers. the workers have now filed a formal complaint to cal osha with the help from the california fast food workers union. >> when i saw that he has i was his is disgusting. and so this is broadening just 40 employees working on these conditions, but also for the coastal the communities affected today. i also spoke with the alameda county health department about these concerns. >> i was told the location did receive annual inspection back in february and no violations were found. and once we share s made these allegati by the employees, the department said they would be sending an inspector by to investigate. and that's what we saw on friday. and i did reach out to mcdonald's earlier before the stark

closure and they sent us this statement from the owner and operator joseph wong. it reads in part, it's important that employees have a safe place to come to work. when we became aware of the issue, we immediately contacted pest control and continue to work with them to address this. and we will continue to follow this story and we're hoping to learn more about what the next steps are for this mcdonald's location. in the newsroom going kron. 4 news. >> and arson investigation is now under way following that fire that destroyed horn barbecue in oakland. it happened just a few days before thanksgiving last year. and since then, owner matt horne has maintain that his restaurant was targeted by arson officials have confirmed the fire was deliberately set. but there is no word right now on a suspect horn barbecue did reopen last week as part of horns, other restaurant maddie's old-fashioned in downtown oakland. coming up

conditions overnight. as you can see that purple there overnight and then even into early, this is 5.45 sunday morning and thank start to taper off the 09:00am hour. but we looks like we get a pop a little pop in the afternoon, but a better day to travel after tomorrow morning. and you can see dry conditions there. how much snow we're expecting. we're expecting a few more inches of snow here. so from now until tomorrow night, maybe like 6 to 12 inches, 3 to 6, the lower elevations there. so better conditions. wait till after late tomorrow morning, i looks like caltrans should be able to plow all roads out there. but the rest of the week will be warming up. so i can see why a shot over at highway 50 right south lake tahoe was crowded. people want to get in all this spring skiing temperatures right now statewide were in the upper 40's on the coast, low 50's but we will be warming up here in the bay area. take a look at the 10 at 10 outlook

weekend. >> all protective measures should be taken. >> and that was sara welch reporting for us tonight. we've got some new details about the grisly discovery of bodies of 3 surfers in baja, california. the mexican state attorney general's office says a 4th body has been discovered where the surfers were found in a 50 foot. well, the 4th victim has been identified as a ranch owner who disappeared 2 weeks ago. he on the property where the bodies were found. the surfers identified as jack carter road from san diego and australian brothers jake and callum robinson, a woman found with a phone belonging to one of the australian surfers and 2 men have been taken into custody. newly released video shows suspected migrants jumping off of a boat in newport beach. the video captured nearly 2 weeks ago. but local say it's a growing problem in orange county. the boat docked around noon on saturday. april 20th on the balboa peninsula near the world famous wedge surf
